Competition

Our swimmers set their own goals, and many choose competition for the challenges it offers and the motivation that it provides.  If you like swim meets, your goal may be to set a new personal best time in a particular event.  Alternatively, a long distance swimmer may aim to swim a number of miles over the course of a year.  Whatever goal you choose, the outcome should be meaningful to you.

Challenges

Splash is affiliated with U.S. Masters Swimming (USMS).  With over 50,000 swimmers nationwide, USMS extends the benefits of swimming with Splash through fitness and competition programs.  Read more about the US Masters Swimming at their web site.

To challenge our members, Splash attends a number of meets and swimming events each year, many of which are made available through USMS.  For example:

  • One-Hour Postal Swim: Swim as many laps as you can within an hour.
  • Go-the-Distance: Swim a number of miles over the course of a year.  You pick the distance.
  • Swim Meets:
    • Swim a new event, and establish an initial 'best-time'.
    • Improve your personal-best record.
    • Challenge a USMS zone or national record in your own age / gender group.
  • Check-Off Challenge: Finish a certain number of meet events over the course of a year.

While many of the meets that Splash attend are in Ohio or nearby, such as the Fall and Spring Redfin Masters meets.  Splash also travels nationally and internationally.  Here are just a few of the places and cities that Splash members have attended meets:

  • Washington D.C.
  • Toronto, Canada
  • Paris, France
  • Sydney Australia
  • Montreal, Canada
  • Copenhagen, Denmark
